Gaza Flotilla Attacked: Israeli troops storm aid ships, up to 20 feared dead

The Israeli Navy have attacked a flotilla of ships carrying humanitarian aid and international activists to Gaza. Reports say up to 20 people were killed and dozens injured as Israeli commandos stormed the vessels over a hundred kilometres off Gaza’s coast. Some of the ships are now being towed to the Israeli port city of Ashdod.

Where do people in Israel get their news from?

Please help – I’m writing a paper on media outlets in Israel. I would particularly like to know alternative outlets but any will be helpful. Please tell me what each outlet is like, what kind of news you get, details like that, etc.
I’m focusing on alternative media so I’d like some independent sources – independent papers, etc.

Israelis get their news from many sources.
Our TV networks are full of news stations.
There are 3 Israeli stations
There are CNN BBC FOX France 24 Russian, Italian El Jazzera, El Manar, you name it.
Radio is unlimited, There are some "Pirate" Stations on the right and left and everything in between.
Israel and Israelis are obsessed with news, We get it from everywhere. That is whaat you should right in your paper.

Is there anyone of you ever heard news about Israel attempt to erase former terrorist Facebook account?

I’m working on my research about information warfare which focus on the use of social networking cites. and in the previous months I ever read that Israel government tried to erase or hack a former terrorist facebook account. But I miss the detail of the news now…..

so If there is anyone of you ever heard it please tell me because it is so important as my case study to my thesis research…… And if there is any other case study you wanna suggest, I’m really gratefull….. Thanks

Obama on Israel Independence Day

In a statement released by the White House Monday, President Barack Obama shared his sentiments on Israel’s 62nd anniversary.

“On the 62nd Anniversary of the establishment of the State of Israel, I join the American people in congratulating the government and people of Israel on this celebration of their independence,” Obama said.

“Minutes after David Ben-Gurion declared Israel’s independence, realizing the dream of a state for the Jewish people in their historic homeland, the United States became the first country to recognize Israel,” he added.

“To this day, we continue to share a strong, unbreakable bond of friendship between our two nations, anchored by the United States’ enduring commitment to Israel’s security,” Obama stressed.

“Israel remains our important partner and key strategic ally in the Middle East, and I am confident that our special relationship will only be strengthened in the months and years to come,” Obama said in his speech.

“I look forward to continuing our efforts with Israel to achieve comprehensive peace and security in the region, including a two-state solution, and to working together to counter the forces that threaten Israel, the United States, and the world,” Obama underlined.

“On this day, we once again honor the extraordinary achievements of the people of Israel, and their deep and abiding friendship with the American people. I offer my best wishes to President Peres, Prime Minister Netanyahu, and the people of Israel as they celebrate this happy occasion,” he concluded.

Eric Cantor: Israel a key strategic ally in Middle East

Washington D.C. – House Republican Whip Eric Cantor issued the following statement on Thursday in response to President Obama’s remarks Tuesday, which appeared in the New York Times, that Israel may be “costing us significantly in terms of both blood and treasure.”

“Israel is a democracy that has always made the sacrifices necessary for peace despite living under constant threats to their very existence. The true barrier to ending the Mideast conflict is the widespread Palestinian refusal to accept and to live alongside Israel as a Jewish state.”

He continued, “While Israel continues its search for a reliable partner in peace, Palestinian terrorism is still celebrated in the West Bank and Gaza. Despite this reality, since day one the White House has applied a severe double standard that refuses to hold the Palestinians accountable for their many provocations. It makes one wonder where the responsible adults are in the administration?”

“With each passing day, more Americans are becoming increasingly concerned about the deteriorating state of U.S.-Israel relations. This concern was expressed succinctly by a letter today from World Jewish Congress President Ron Lauder to President Obama, who wrote, ‘Our great country and the tiny State of Israel have long shared the core values of freedom and democracy. It is a bond much treasured by the Jewish people. In that spirit I submit, most respectfully, that it is time to end our public feud with Israel and to confront the real challenges that we face together.’ I couldn’t agree more.

“The American people understand that Israel is a key strategic ally in the Middle East, one that we should stand with in our mutual struggle to prevent the spread of Islamic extremism and a nuclear Iran.”

Have you heard on the news that Israel was the first country to show up in Haiti?

They had 2oo medical personnel on the ground,before the americans showed up second with offshore ship hospitals. Think about it,of all the countries in the world,the Israelis showed up first to help!
What does that tell you about Gods chosen people,are they a good example of the good Samaritan or what? God bless them with even more of Himself!

I don’t know if they were first or not, but everyone that showed up is awesome! It goes to show that Israel is a compassionate country filled with lovely people. Everyone that showed up is awesome! May God bless them all!

Gaza War victims believe Israel will trump UN probe

A new UN resolution gives Israel and the Palestinians five more months to investigate the three-week Gaza war, which started at the end of 2008. A report last year found both sides guilty of war crimes. Israel calls it biased and flawed. And the Palestinians say even if the probe confirms that war crimes were committed, Israel will never be held responsible.
