Is Netanyahu's victory great news for Israel?
I think it is, I can't see Netanyahu pussyfooting around with the "peace process" that does nothing but bring Israel death and dismembered bodies.
Long live Israel.

Good. Had he been there all along I believe things would have been different. He knows the enemy and how to deal with them.

I think everyone's worn out and that's why he's their leader. Good for him.

Considering the alternatives within the Likud Party, a lot worse things could have happened in the leadership election.
Israel still has an impossible situation which no one has yet figured out how to resolve.
1) There are too many Palestinians living in the West Bank and Gaza. If you annexed them into Israel, the largest party in the next Knesset would be Hamas.
2) Neither Fatah nor Hamas is really interested in negotiating in good faith with Israel. In addition, Fatah is corrupt and is not a viable government for the West Bank or Gaza. In the absence of a credible and honest alternative, any election within the Palestinian Authority is likely to be won by Hamas.
3) Under these conditions, it is difficult to unilaterally withdraw from the West Bank and Gaza without leaving them turning into a base for attacking Israel.
4) How much longer is Israel willing to maintain military control over the West Bank and Gaza? Can Israel maintain its soul and democratic nature while occupying so much land?
There does not seem to be a good solution offered by any of the three major parties, and the minor parties merely clog up the system by making incredible demands for the votes needed to keep any government afloat.
