Why is it that the American news tends to focus on the deaths in Israel and not Lebanon?
CNN talked about how two missiles were fired onto Hifa and how 8 people were killed…yet Israel fired HUNDREDS of missiles and bombs, killed HUNDREDS of civilians, and their deaths are seen as nothing on the American news.
deaths are regrettable on both sides, but why is the American news so biased? Face it, Israel wasn't firing all these bombs and killing all these innocent people to free their two soldiers. Their not defending their country, their just killing innocent people. Lebanon is basically wiped out. They took it too far and yet they aren't seen as terrorists. Baffels my mind I tell ya.
I've been watching the occasional news report … I see a city in Lebanon levelled to dust … literally nothing left but corpses and debris.
Then they show an Israeli woman in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood where a rocket fell on her car and it was new … so she's upset.
Such disparaging images … and yet the news media continues to hype how difficult this is on Israelis.

You should go ALL the way back about 30 years plus and check out the reports. SOmetimes Pakistan, or the Lebanese really get them good for awhile, and then isreal has a turn. It goes back and forth, it just so happens right now Isreal has the upper hand. GIve it 6 months or less, it will swing the other way.

The people in Lebanon started it. You can't start a fight and then cry when you lose. I don't want people on either side to die as most are innocent. The best way to end the fight is to refuse to join in.

I think it may be because Israel is a more reknown country. Maybe I'll give a small example. Would you rather listen to Russia's top Singer or the top Singer in the US?

The Bible says that the United States will come to the aid of Israel. So we aren't going to focus on the enemies. The final war will be there with all the armies of the world against Israel.

America is allied with Israel. It goes further than that though. We have had Jewish people and Israelis in America for a very long time. They are high profile in many ways. So we cover conflicts with a distinct Israeli-loving bend.
I personally believe that Israel should be held to a higher standard as it is a government in a world community. Just because you have a gov't doesn't mean you commit acts of terrorism and call it defense.

I don't know about CNN but I just watch the news on NBC and they talked about both sides death totals. They are biased on the news but both death tolls were listed for todays toll and for the entire time toll.

I am shocked at the ignorance of many of the Americans and Canadians that have answered this post. First off, I have been watching CNN all day and have heard more about the bombings in Haifa than anything else yet there are over 200 dead Lebanese civilians. It is sad that the media in the USA is so biased however it is our responsibility to form opinions based on truth and not on what we hear from CNN.

Well, given that Hezbollah (which is funded, led, and directed by the Iranians–who, by the way, wish for Israel to be wiped off the map) fired 800 missiles against Israel before the Israelis retaliated, I think the Israelis showed restraint.

take the weapons away from Lebanon/Hezbollah and other terrorist states/groups and peace will set in. take the weapons away from Israel and millions of Jews will be massacred. If the civillian don't want to die they should leave or do something about their country.

Because there are treaties and agreements with Israel drawn up.
Just an FYI, in Canada, we get both sides, you have to remember Lebanon did throw the first punch. But yes, I agree, that it went too far on the other side.
It is not justice if the sentence outweighs the crime.
