Hey everybody, my name is Mike. I am Syrian but I live and work in Toronto Canada as I have the Canadian citizenship. I want to travel to Israel to do a pilgrimage in Jerusalem but I'm not sure if the Israeli embassy will give me a visa to travel to Israel as a Canadian or maybe the Israeli custom officers will not allow me to pass to Israel if they know that I am Syrian even though I could use my Canadian passport.

You shouldn't worry about it, with a name like Mike and a Canadian passport you will pass customs in a second. You don't need a visa to travel Israel if you show the passport control agent your Canadian passport.
Have fun.

Perhaps even used or discounted?

I've tried Lonely Planet but does that mean I need updated versions for Egypt, Israel Turkey and Jordan or is there a combo book?

I think Israel is amazing. Maybe it's not that safe, but that girl has no idea what she's talking about. obviously a dumb person. Lol, just go to a book store and ask them if they have any books about Israel and the surrounding countries.

Most American politicians, all the way from the County level to Congress, are given a free tour of Israel all paid for by Jewish groups. Because these are done for "educational purposes" these trips are not even supported as lobbying efforts. Given this corruptpt practice, is it surprising that almost all American politicians support Israeli policies, no matter what?

Well that's not all. There's AIPAC publicity and money. Conversely some political leaders like Sen Fulbright, Sen Charles Percy, Rep Cynthia McKinney and Rep Paul Findley,, all had their political careers destroyed because of their defense of Palestinian rights.

Is there a bus tour or just rent a car for this? I know the main one is open on Saturday, which is nice.

It is impossible to see all of them in one or two days. It is even unlikely that one would manage to do justice to all of the museums in one small region of Israel in a brief trip. As you know, Israel has more museums per capita than any other country in in the world.
Here is a good guide: http://ilmuseums.com/

In Jerusalem alone, one needs a few days to get through the majority of exhibits in some of the larger museums (such as the Israel Museum or the Bible Lands Museum). If you plan to see various sites in the Old City , it's worth looking into a special municipal tourist pass that discounts your entry fee to a number of sites. http://www.jerusalem.muni.il/jer_main/defaultnew.asp?lng=2
[Click on "Tourism" > "Old City" > "Holy City".]

It's possible to purchase 1 and 2- day bus passes for a Jerusalem tourist bus that takes you around the city to major sites of interest ; you can get on and off at any of the museums and places listed here. http://www.egged.co.il/Eng/main.asp?lngCategoryID=2773
