How safe do you think it is to travel to Israel?

I really want to go to Israel this summer with my friend to visit her family who live in a kibbutz there. I'm not worried about my safety, but my parents think it's dangerous and that I'll get blown up or something. I just wanted to see other perspectives… how safe do you think it is to be in Israel?

For the most part, violence is limited to border towns. Israel has some of the world's best security officers, policemen, and guards, so potential threats are easily spotted. Realistically, your biggest threat, particularly on a kibbutz, will be tripping over some corn. As far as transportation goes, there are a few companies which run tourist buses, and the train system is very safe.

I think the best way to avoid explosive stuff is ..
ask their family the places where most explosive might occur. And even avoid going near to that place.
    Hope it will help you.
    Personally, I won't go there.

Very safe as long as you drive a fully armored car.
Go for them steel plate buletproof ones.
Don't forget to put on your Kevlar vest too.
Beware, all Jews will say "oh, it's very nice here in Israel" or "The weather is fine". Don't believe a word they say.
They're getting payed by the the Jewish Tourism Agency to hook on any stray visitors.
    Take care

Israel is safer than most major American Cities - don't worry about it. Generally speaking the terrorist aren't after the tourist they are after the native Israelis.

    Good Luck!!!

It is not just your safety but the safety of others that you should be concerned about. Ersatz israel is a war zone. Act accordingly.

I have been there 3 times in the past couple of years…
never witnessed a terrorist attack at all!
I have friends and family there… and none of them have ever been harmed. Thats excluding one who was in the army and stepped on an enemy mine… but obviously… you won't have to deal with any of those ;) haha…
    Have fun!

I'll bet you couldn't count the number of tourist that go year after year. there are probably hundreds of preachers taking the tour every year with their congregations in tow.
Do you ever hear in the news of tourists being bombed ? Are there rockets falling on Jerusalem?
I am hoping to go later this year, and what worries me is how my sexy little wife will be accepted. Not a bomb.
